What are "Phytates" in our food?

Okay . . . so, the past few days we've been talking about the "OXALATES" in our food . . .

Well . . . today, let's talk about the "PHYTATES" . . .

"Phytates" . . . also known as "phytic acids" . . . are organic acids that "store" phosphorus in plants . . . their ecosystem . . . and are found in many plant-based foods . . . like cereals, legumes and seeds . . .

And these "phytates" protect plants from germinating TOO early.

And guess what???

They also have health benefits for us . . . like acting as "antioxidants" . . . and potentially preventing cancer and kidney stones.

BUT . . . "phytates" are also considered . . . "antinutrients" . . . and this is due to "humans" lacking the "enzymes" to break them down.

And with this . . . "phytates" BIND to minerals like iron, zinc, magnesium and calcium . . . which in turn . . . prevents them from being absorbed in the intestines.

So, eating too many foods that contain "phytates" can result in "mineral deficiencies"!

And when this happens . . . it can impair the "immune system" and can lead to "LEAKY GUT" which we've spoken about many times before!

It can also cause "Fibromyalgia" and "Osteoporosis"!!!!

With other negative effects being . . .

Poor bone growth

Short stature

Rickets

Narrow jaws

Tooth decay in infants

and Reduced mineral absorption in adults

Okay . . . so what foods have the "highest" content of "phytates" in them???

Well . . . they would be . . .

Cereals

Legumes

Nuts

Seeds

and Grains

So, tomorrow . . . let's talk about ways to "FLUSH" out the extra "phytates" from the body.

Tis the season to "believe"

I know it's been a "struggle" for many of us this year. . . But . . . the "power" of HUMILITY" . . . is with us!!! It's about being more...

Is "gratitude" the key to life?

Is "gratitude" the key to life? So . . . that's a very powerful question . . . And the "Proverb" for "gratitude" says this . . ....
