So, the question for today is this . . . how can we "save" the emotion of "gratitude" from extinction???
Well . . . we first need to acknowledge why people may be "ungrateful" in the first place. . .
With some reasons being . . . early childhood conditioning . . . or . . . traumatic experiences.
But . . . what ever the cause . . . many habits can manifest over the years like . . .
Comparing
Self-pity
Complaining
Isolation
Entitlement
and busyness.
So, what are the 4 A's of "gratitude" we need to practice . . . in today's world???
Well . . . they would be . . .
"Appreciation" - recognize and value the positive aspects and people in your life
"Approval" - approve of the good things that happen to you
"Admiration" - feel inspired by the positive qualities of others
"Attention" - listen patiently, quietly, calmly and thoughtfully without interrupting
You see . . . "practicing" these "gratitude" actions . . . can "boost" your self-esteem and the self-esteem of others.
Some other ways to "save" the emotion of "gratitude" from extinction would be . . .
"Notice" - what you have in your life, no matter how small
"Think" - about why you have received a gift and who played a role in making it possible
"Feel" - the positive emotions that comes with receiving from others
"Do" - something to express your appreciation, like journaling, writing letters or making time to talk with friends.
Because "LIFE" is short PEOPLE . . .
And we need to bring "positive", grateful, thankful appreciation . . . back into our life!!!
Mark Twain once said . . .
"There isn't time - so brief is life . . . for bickering, apologies, heartburning, callings to account . . . there is only time for "LOVING" . . . and but an instant, so to speak, for that."
So in this crazy "unhappy" world of today . . . "appreciate" life and man-kind . . . and spread the "love" this holiday season!!!
And maybe, just maybe . . . if we practice hard enough . . . thankfulness, gratitude and appreciation . . . will rub off on the new year of 2025!!!
